Information for Saturday’s meet in Manchester, NH

1.  The buses will depart the rink parking lot at 6:00 am.  Please don’t be late!  This is as late as we can reasonably leave and still get there in time to walk the course before the first races. Rough estimate of return is 4:00 pm.

2.  Here are driving directions to Derryfield Park in Manchester in case you are interested in coming.  Here is the link to the Manchester Invitational website.

3.  Here is the schedule of races for our runners:

9:00 a.m. Girls’ Freshmen race
9:30 a.m. Boys’ Freshmen race
10:00 a.m. Girls’ JV race
10:45 a.m. Boys’ JV race
11:15 a.m. Girls’ A race — “Small” School Division
12:00 p.m. Boys’ A race — “Small” School Division

4.  Although we will have a tent, there is no shelter at the park.  Everyone should come prepared for any kind of weather – dry clothes, warm clothes, many layers.  The forecast looks lovely – even warm.  But the trails could be muddy, so you’ll want fresh socks and shoes for the hours you aren’t racing.  And after you finish sweating, you could get cold.  If it’s quite sunny, bring sunscreen.

5.  Although there will be food for sale there, the lines can be long and they run out of stuff.  Bring something for breakfast (bagel, fruit, yogurt, etc.) on the bus.  Bring something for lunch (sandwich, etc.).  Bring plenty to drink, especially if the weather is warm.

6.  Considering the length of the day, we will be especially reliant on the parents for snacks and drinks.  Please check out the online signup sheet.  Last year, we had a parent provide sandwiches for the whole team in Manchester.  That’s an “above and beyond” kind of thing – don’t feel pressure to replicate it –  but gives some indication of the scale of support that makes a day like this work.  If you have an idea for something on a larger scale, please get in touch with Martha or Anne.

7.  Food or drink donations can be given to us the morning of departure or dropped off at school on Friday.  We can keep them in my classroom (Curtis 109) or Coach Mazzurco’s office in the library.

8.  Students should bring extra money to buy t-shirts, snacks, etc.  Depending on the food situation, we have, in past years, sometimes stopped for food on the way home.
