Indoor Track & Field


Both the NYA boys and girls indoor track & field teams compete in the Western Maine Conference (WMC) during the regular season. For the state championship, both teams compete for the Class B title against similarly sized WMC schools. NYA indoor track & field started as an independent team in 1998 and the first full official team was 1999. Since then both teams have established a tradition of excellence.

The boys indoor track & field team has seen over 15 relay teams reach the podium in the WMC Championship, including one team ultimately winning the conference championship and 8 teams placing at the state championship. NYA indoor track individuals have won over 60 separate WMC ribbons, including 9 champion ribbons. At the state level, NYA athletes have earned 18 individual medals, including 4 state champions. NYA also regularly sends athletes to the New England and National Championships.

The NYA girls indoor track & field team has sent 16 relay teams to the podium in the WMC Championship and 10 at the state championship. Individual NYA athletes have won over 60 separate WMC ribbons with 5 of them being champions at the WMC level. At the state level, 24 medals have been earned by NYA athletes, including 6 state champion medals. NYA athletes hold several current records both at the WMC and state level. NYA also regularly sends athletes to the New England and National Championships.
