Just a quick wrap up with the highlights from our meet on Tuesday. The rain held off but the wind and cold still played havoc on our ability to properly warm-up.
Despite the conditions many athletes saw huge season and career bests. Morgan Scully made a massive 15 feet jump in the discus to qualify automatically for states and score a position on the all-time list. Julia Thompson had bests in ALL of her throwing events which earned her the golden shoe for the meet. The boys 4x800m relay (Asad, Alex, Evan, Cam) teamed up to run a Class C state leading time by over 20 seconds. Alex Coffin continued his unbeaten streak in the 800m. Michael McIntosh ran a great 100 and blazing leg on the 4×100 which dropped their time significantly and earned Michael the golden shoe for the meet. Jake Burns ran his first race back from injury – the 800m – a race out of his comfort zone, but thanks to Brian Trelegan who offered to pace Jake and ended up helping both of them to run career best times.
On the down side we had several tweaks and one hard fall in the hurdles but everyone seems to be healing well and should be ready for competition again soon.
