ITF Meet 2 Results

The boys and girls Indoor Track & Field teams had their first “late” meet of the season on Friday down at USM Gorham.  The parents gave the team a high energy send-off in the form of a pot luck team dinner which seemed to set the stage for series of season best performances.

The meet started off with the 4x800m relays.   Both the boys and the girls squads ran their first 4×8 teams of the season with the girls relay (Detert, Twombly, Hearn, Jordan) winning the event in a time of 10:46.27 and the boys (Coffin, Kolkin, N. Rayder, Trelegan)  finishing 3rd in a time of 9:20.

Next up was a series of PRs in the 55m hurdles with all 4 entrants for NYA setting season bests.  Jake Burns lowered his Jr. Division school record yet again to 9.59 finishing 2nd.   On the girls side Renee Lamoreau, Jillian Bjorn-Caron, and Bailey Clock all lowered their season bests by at least half a second completely rewriting the school’s top 5 performance lists.

The 400m dash saw a solid series of NYA improvements with Jacob Scammon cutting 4 seconds off his best time of the season to finish 2nd in the Jr. Division while Bailey Clock and Sarah Jordan each took over a second off of their times to place 8th and 2nd respectively in their divisions.

The 1 mile had 3 athletes from NYA: Alex Coffin, Hannah Twombly, and Hannah Hearn.  Each had a similar and exceptionally gutsy race.  All 3 racers started at a pace that was nearly impossible to maintain yet held it together for 8 laps to run equal to or better than their PR.  Additionally all 3 athletes ran state qualifying times.

As a school – the boys team finished 6th at this meet while the girls team finished a strong 4th.  Overall out of 49 individual performances 2/3 of them were season bests.  Those are the types of numbers we love to see!
