NYA Boys XC: 2010 WMC Champs!

7 October 2010

The NYA boys cross-country team won the small-school division of the Western Maine Conference championship meet today at Falmouth Community Park.  On the hilly, slippery 3-mile course, the team’s 50 points put them ahead of Waynflete (61), Yarmouth (68), Fryeburg (76), and Merriconeag (89).  Team scores.

NYA’s top runners, Cam Regan and Evan Kendall continued their remarkable season.  Cam finished 10th overall (17:27) in the WMC, earning a medal as a first-team All-Conference selection.  Evan was not far behind, 14th overall (17:47).  Senior Elliot Daniels extended his late-season surge, shooting into third place on the team with a PR 18:21* (26th).  Rudy Guliani was the team’s fourth man in 18:40 (39th), while Grant McPherson (19:02 / 52nd) edged Brian Trelegan (19:03 / 53rd) for the final scoring spot on the team.  Brian displaced two Waynflete scorers and Ian Moore (19:42 / 63rd) displaced one, helping to pad the margin of victory by putting 7 runners ahead of Waynflete’s fifth man.  Varsity results

In the JV race, captain Robert Field led NYA’s squad with a 21:02 time, good for 42nd overall (out of 135 runners).  Other runners included: Max Maurer (24:39 / 107th), Henry Arsenault (24:47 / 110th), Alex Paige (24:53 / 112th), Ethan Liu (26:18* / 118th), and Edward Elliot (27:17 / 127th). Congratulations again to the boys!  And special thanks to Ron Carpenter ’06 for his coaching assistance while Head Coach Sillin was unavailable because of Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Our next meet is at home at Royal River Park on Friday 10/15.  The boys will race at 4:00 and the girls at 4:30 (note the change in time because of the fading daylight).
