NYA Boys XC: Results from Poland race

17 September

The race at Poland Preservation park on Friday 17 September featured a grueling 3.2 course; hilly, with poor footing, and narrow, this course required racers to forget about time and concentrate on positioning in the 87-man field.  Teams from York, Freeport, and Poland also competed in the race.

NYA’s team was missing several of its varsity members on Friday, so each runner instead focused on individual goals.  The top finisher for NYA was Cam Regan (2nd overall / 18:54) who was neck and neck with the top York runner until the final 100 meters or so.   Evan Kendall ran a very strong race to finish 5th in 19:19.  Grant McPherson ran as NYA’s number 3, completing the course in 20:57, good for 17th place.  Ian Moore continued his impressive string of early races (22nd / 21:09).  Robert Field rounded out NYA’s scoring five (27th / 22:01).  Nick Kolkin hung tough for 34th (22:30) and Aldis Gamble made his first career appearance in the Varsity Seven with his 67th place time of 26:54.

Other NYA runners included:  Henry Arsenault (75th / 28:17), Max Maurer (76th / 28:19),  Alex Paige (78th / 28:52), Ethan Liu (81st / 30:20), Phong Ho (83rd / 33:34), and Edward Elliot (84th / 33:35).

NYA finished in 3rd place as a team, a respectable showing considering the injury situation.

NYA races next on Saturday 9/25 at Twin Brook  in the Southwest Classic.
